The Shack, a roadside stand straight out of many childhoods, turns out excellent food in a little kitchen. "...It rings a bell reminding me of happy times in the past" says a customer. The Shack opened prior to 1926 and it was nothing but a beer, hot dog and hamburger stand. One customer used to bring his children. Now he takes his grandchildren. The New York Times

Duck was still a sleepy little village when "those two guys" opened the Blue Point in the summer of 1989. Only a few years before, Route 12 ended at the county line. While the Northern Beaches of Dare and Currituck Counties have experienced continuous growth over the past 20+ years, Duck has retained its charm and "sleepy" attitude.
